John Darroch

John became owner of NH Valuers in October 2016 and leads the firm as Managing Director, continuing a long standing family name in valuation. A Life Fellow of PINZ and NZIV, a Member of RICS and an Associate of AMINZ, John has served many years on both institutes' standards boards. He brings more than 40 years' valuation experience, including serving as Valuation Director for two large New Zealand corporates.

He specialises in commercial and industrial property across greater Auckland, and is active in arbitration, rental disputes, expert witness and compensation work. Outside work, John enjoys family time, travel, visiting Aotea Great Barrier Island and being out on the water.

David joined NH Valuers in August 2020 as a Registered Valuer and is now an Associate Director. He is a Member of NZIV and holds a Bachelor of Property from the University of Auckland.

David has worked in valuation since 2010, with a background in the commercial sector. He specialises in retail, office and industrial property across all of Auckland, providing market and rental assessments, insurance valuations, Public Works Act compensation and property advisory to clients ranging from international corporates to individual owners and tenants.

David is fluent in English and Teochew (Chinese), and enjoys travel, home cooking, coffee and technology.

Dave joined NH Valuers in August 2022 as a Senior Registered Valuer, and Senior Member of NZIV.

Dave has worked in valuation since 2004, building broad experience across market and insurance valuations, rent reviews, compensation and litigation work.

Born and raised on the North Shore, he now specialises in commercial and industrial property developments across the North Shore, Rodney. Outside work, Dave enjoys the gym and travelling the country fishing and diving.

Murray Pelham

Murray founded NH Valuers in 2003 after many years in public and private practice, and continues as Senior Valuer following John Darroch's purchase of the business in October 2016. He is a Senior Member of NZIV and a Registered Valuer. Murray brings more than 35 years' experience in the valuation profession.

His primary focus is residential property, particularly the Devonport peninsula and coastal suburbs from Takapuna to East Coast Bays, along with Public Works Act compensation valuations. Outside work, Murray enjoys boating, fishing and the occasional game of touch rugby.

David joined NH Valuers in August 2017 as Senior Registered Valuer, and Senior Member of NZIV. He is also a member of the Arbitrators' and Mediators' Institute of New Zealand.

David spent 16 years as a Director of a busy practice, and has extensive experience in the central Auckland market across high-value residential, commercial, compensation, litigation and leaky building disputes.

He now focuses on Auckland's residential, lifestyle and coastal markets, including Northcote Point and Birkenhead Point. Outside work, David enjoys mountain biking and swimming, and is a life member of United North Piha Surf Club.

Jayna Patel

Jayna joined NH Valuers in April 2026 as a Registered Valuer. She is a member of NZIV and RICS.

Jayna has worked in valuation since graduating from the University of Auckland in 2009, and handles everything from local commercial assets to large-scale portfolios. Her experience spans industrial, retail, office, childcare, medical and land valuations across the greater Auckland region, as well as work throughout New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

Outside work, Jayna is an avid traveller and loves catching up with friends and family.

Helen joined NH Valuers in August 2025 as a Registered Valuer. She has been registered for more than 10 years and is a Senior Member of NZIV. 

Helen has an extensive background in residential and lifestyle property valuation currently values residential property on Auckland's North Shore and in the Whangārei District.

Marta joined NH Valuers in January 2024 as a Registered Valuer. She graduated from Massey University in 2017 and became registered in 2021, following an international career with Marriott Hotels in Denver and Amsterdam that gave her a real appreciation for working with people from diverse backgrounds. 

Marta specialises in residential and lifestyle property across North Auckland, particularly the Hibiscus Coast, Silverdale, Milldale, Millwater and Warkworth.

Originally from Hungary, she has lived with her family in rural Puhoi since 2013, and enjoys travel, family and friends.

Barrett joined North Harbour Valuers in October 2025 as a Valuer, currently working toward registration. She graduated from the University of Auckland in 2021 with a Bachelor of Property and has a background in Building Surveying and Property Management. Barrett focuses on commercial assets across the Auckland region. 
Outside of work, Barrett enjoys reading, staying active at the gym, travelling, and dabbling in film photography.

Maree joined NH Valuers in 2024 as Office Manager to help expand the firm's residential valuation work. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Management (Business), completed in 2018, and has more than 35 years' experience working with Neil and John Darroch across a range of companies and administrative roles. 

Maree brings extensive working knowledge of the valuation portals used by New Zealand's major banks and lending institutions.

In her spare time, she enjoys DIY projects and runs a small property management business.

Emily Muller

Data and Research Assistant

Emily joined NH Valuers in 2025 as a part-time Data and Research Assistant. She is studying a conjoint Bachelor of Property and Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Auckland, majoring in International Business and Marketing. Emily supports the valuation team by turning market data into meaningful insights. 

Outside study and work, she enjoys hiking and time in nature, and is a keen volleyball player with many championship wins.
